Join poet Mischa Willett for a reading from his new collection, This Gift Card Has Already Been Redeemed, published by Paraclete Press.

Witty, restless, and attentive to the oddities of ordinary life, these poems move through art, memory, disappointment, belief, love, and the small astonishments of the everyday. Willett writes in conversation with poets ranging from Robert Frost and Pablo Neruda to Denise Levertov, moving between formal intensity and a loose, conversational voice.

Scott Cairns praises Willett’s “wit, wordplay, and wisdom,” writing that through the book’s heartbreak, elation, disappointment, and consolation, “one hears the deep and grounding ison note of joy.”

About the Author

Mischa Willett is the author of This Gift Card Has Already Been Redeemed, The Elegy Beta, and Phases. His poems, essays, translations, and scholarship have appeared in a wide range of literary and academic venues. He directs the Whitworth Writers Workshop, a low-residency MFA program in Creative Writing based in Spokane.
